Your First Visit

If you’ve come this far, congratulations! It probably feels good to have discovered a path forward toward solving your health concerns. We’re excited too! We look forward to welcoming you as a new patient.

If you are nervous about seeing a Chiropractor, or have had a less-than-satisfying Chiropractic experience in the past, don’t worry. Dr. Shelley’s very gentle but very thorough approach puts most people at ease instantly. Parents are frequently surprised at how much their kids love getting adjusted too!

How do I become a new patient?

If you’re ready to see how Chiropractic can help transform your health, just give us a call. We look forward to talking with you and getting you started.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Prior to your first visit, we will send you new patient intake forms, which you should complete before you come in and bring to your first visit.

Your first visit will take about an hour and fifteen minutes. Dr. Shelley will review your history and perform a thorough chiropractic examination. We do not take X-rays in our office, but if you have already had X-rays taken somewhere else you are encouraged to bring the films and/or reports with you.

Dr. Shelley uses state-of-the-art technology, including Thermography, Heart Rate Variability, and Surface Electromyography to assess the function of your spine and nervous system. After reviewing the results of these scans and your health history, Dr. Shelley will make specific recommendations for care which will be unique to you.

After the exam and discussion, you will receive your first chiropractic adjustment. Adjustments are generally not painful, although sometimes the areas needing attention are tender or sore to the touch.

Follow-up adjustments will be recommended; the frequency and duration of your care will be determined during the new patient evaluation. Follow-up appointments are scheduled on 15-minute intervals.

Do you take insurance?

While Cuyahoga Chiropractic and Dr. Shelley are not in-network with any insurance plans, most plans cover some level of out-of-network care. Check with your carrier to find out if you can be reimbursed. We are happy to provide you with any additional information your insurance company may need to submit claims.

All HSA and FSA plans cover Chiropractic services. Most do not require pre-approval; regardless, we are happy to help you with any documentation you may need.
